| Satan is referred to in different ways. Each mention of him tells us something about who he is and what activities he is involved in. 2 Cor. 2:11 -- devices Eph. 6:11 -- wiles 2 Cor. 6:15 -- Belial Rev. 12:9 -- Dragon, serpent, Devil, Satan 2 Cor. 4:4 -- god of this world John 14:30 -- prince of this world Eph. 2:2 -- prince of the power of the air, spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience John 8:44 -- devil, murderer, liar, father of liars Col. 1:13 -- the power of darkness
Paul warned the Corinthians of his devices, and instructs us how to respond to his activities.
2 Cor. 2:11 -- we are not ignorant of his devices Eph. 4:27 -- neither give place 2 Tim. 2:26 -- recover themselves out of his snare Eph. 6:11 -- put on the whole armour of God
The word "satan" is connected to the word "adversary". Some examples of ways the word "adversary" is used.
1 Sam. 29:4 -- adversary 1 Kings 11:14, 23, 25 -- adversary Psa. 71:13 -- adversary
Who Lucifer was originally created to be. Eze. 28:11-15 -- full of wisdom, perfect in beauty, covered in precious stones, tabrets and pipes, the anointed cherub that covereth, upon the holy mountain of God, walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire, perfect in thy ways
But iniquity was found in him.
Eze. 28:15-19 -- iniquity, merchandise, violence, sinned, cast as profane out of the mountain of God, to be destroyed, heart lifted up, corrupted thy wisdom, cast to the ground, defiled the sanctuaries, Isa. 14:12 -- fallen, cut down
Satan had a plan.
Isa. 14:13-14 1) To ascend into heaven. (Above the position he already held there, into the dwelling place of God.) 2) To exalt his throne above the stars of God (Stars=angels. Rev. 12:4,9) 3) To sit also in the mount of the congregation (Job 1:6-7, 2:1-2) 4) To ascend above the heights of the clouds (Clouds refer to clouds associated with God and His glory 2 out of 3 times in the Bible) 5) To be like the Most High i.e. the Possessor of Heaven and Earth (Most High=Possessor of Heaven and Earth -- Gen. 14:17-24)
In order to be the Possessor of heaven and earth, Satan had to take control of both realms. He does this by becoming both the "Prince of the Power of the air“ heaven (Eph. 2:2) and the "Prince of this World“ earth (John 14:30).
PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR
Eph. 2:2 -- prince of the power of the air
There are principalities and powers (governments) in the heavens. Col. 1:16 -- principalities or powers
Satan trafficked his iniquity in the heavenly places.
Eze. 28:17-18 -- iniquity of thy traffick
His followers are those principalities and powers in the heavens that we now wrestle against -- the devil's angels.
Eph. 6:12 -- principalities and powers Rom. 8:28-29 -- principalities and powers Col. 2:15 -- principalities and powers Mat. 25:41 -- his angels Rev. 12:9 -- his angels THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD
John 12:31 -- prince of this world John 14:30 -- prince of this world John 16:11 -- prince of this world
Dominion of the earth was originally given to man.
Gen. 1:26-28 -- have dominion Gen. 2:19-20 -- Adam exercises control in naming animals Psa. 8:4-9 -- thou madest him to have dominion
Satan usurped this authority at the fall of man, stealing man's title as prince of this world.
Gen. 3:23 -- man sent out of garden, no longer in dominion John 14:30 -- prince of this world Luke 4:5-7 -- kingdoms of the world belong to the devil 2 Cor. 4:4 -- god of this world

| Romans 3:19-28
(19) Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. (20) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (21) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; (22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: (23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (26) To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (27) Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (28) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW. Summary: no flesh can be justified by the deeds of the law. The righteousness of God is available without the law by the faith of Jesus Christ to them that believe. We are justified freely through faith in his blood that his righteousness might be declared, not ours but his. He justifies him which believeth. Because it is completely Christ's righteousness, not our own, that saves us, boasting is excluded. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW!
